Stallhagen Raspberry Stout is a rich and boldly tasty “graduation beer” by brewmaster Jonas Backlund. Aficionado of dark chocolate, Backlund was enjoying a raspberry-chocolate dessert and was inspired to try his hand on a matching beer. The result of his exciting combination of seven malts and fresh raspberries is a pleasurably smooth beer with intriguing complexity.

Raspberry Stout is licorice-black with a rather modest head of toffee color. Aroma has roasted tones and rich maltiness, hints of chocolate and piquant berries. Full-bodied mouthfeel. The generous, complex and memorable taste is well structured with flavor elements of the malt combination in harmonious balance. A touch of sweetness rounds the tartness and acidity of fresh berries. The Tradition-hop brings a touch of flowery bitterness; the finish is long and elegant.

The beer of the archipelago

Stallhagen is a microbrewery on Åland, in the middle of the archipelago between Sweden and Finland. As inhabitants of the archipelago, we are used to finding the means to provide for our own needs.

Beer, for example.
We really needed that.
